The bird deserved better. So did your links.
Free the tweet.
Leave the Elon.
Read a public X post without signing in. Paste the link. Leave the circus.
Already on X? Change x.com to unelon.com.
Keep the rest of the address, then open it. No install. No setup.
x.com/name/status/123
becomes unelon.com/name/status/123
"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion..."
- No account required
- No blue check needed
- No feed to fall into
Prefer a button? Optional extras.
Swapping x.com for unelon.com is all you need. These tools save a little typing if you do this often.
On iPhoneAn exit strategy in your share sheet
- Add Free the Tweet once. When Shortcuts opens, tap Add Shortcut. Look for the blue bird icon.
- On any X post, open the share sheet and tap Free the Tweet.
- The shortcut copies the clean link and opens the share sheet. Choose where to send it. Building the link happens on your phone without a network request.
On desktopAn emergency exit in your bookmarks bar
- Show your browser’s bookmarks bar.
- Drag the Unelon button below onto it.
- On an X post, click it. It copies the clean link and opens the clean view in a new tab.
Can’t drag? Add it by hand
- Copy the code below.
- Add a new bookmark. Bookmarking this page works.
- Edit that bookmark, name it Unelon, and paste the code in place of its address.
Optional: give it the anti-X icon
Browsers usually show bookmarklets with a blank icon. Bookmarking this page first and then pasting the code over that bookmark’s address sometimes keeps the Unelon icon. Whether it sticks depends on the browser, and some reset it later.
How it works
Less circus. Same source.
Words first. Mercifully. Unelon asks X’s public oEmbed service for the post from its own server and puts the text on the page right away, so the post is readable even if the embed never loads.
X still makes an appearance. Reader pages automatically connect your browser to X to load the embedded post and its media. X can see that visit, and the embed may show related posts, engagement counts, and X’s own controls. Embeds are requested with Do Not Track on, which X may or may not honor. Show text only removes the embed from the page, but it cannot undo requests already sent.
Public posts only. Unelon shows one public post per link, not full threads. Photos and video depend on X’s embed availability. Protected, deleted, and unavailable posts look the same from here, so Unelon does not guess which. Post text is cached for up to 7 days, so a post deleted on X can still show here until the cache expires.
What gets recorded
- Unelon uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count pageviews and measure page performance without analytics cookies or advertising trackers. Page addresses include the post number.
- The homepage example and reader pages automatically connect your browser to X to load embedded posts. X handles that visit under its own policies.
- Cloudflare hosts Unelon and keeps standard request logs, which include the page address and so the post number. The Worker’s own logs are on for debugging.
- If your browser has trouble reaching the site, it may send Cloudflare a network error report.
- Requests from known AI crawlers are counted by a separate service of Corbet’s. That separate service does not count ordinary visits.
- Post text is cached by post number for up to 7 days, and failed lookups for 30 minutes. Nothing about you is stored with it.
